The organizers of the clay court French Open have announced that the tournament could be held without fans.
Roland Garros had been scheduled for the 24th of May to the 7th of June before the French Tennis Federation or FFT pushed it back to September in a bid to save the tournament from falling victim to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier, the FFT said that all tickets purchased for this years French Open would be cancelled and reimbursed instead of being transferred.
The tennis season was suspended in early March due to the pandemic and the pause will continue until at least mid-July with many countries in lockdown.
Wimbledon has been cancelled, while the status of the US Open, scheduled to take place in late August, is still unclear.
